new Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held the summit with his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison today. PM Modi said that the relations between the two countries have improved a lot in the last few years only. The two countries are going to work together in the coming times in the fields of trade and investment, defense and security, education and innovation, science and technology.

In the meeting, the issue of last year’s events on the LAC of Ladakh also came up, on which PM Modi clearly said that peace is the way to better relations between the two countries.
Modi said the early conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement will be important for the economic ties and security of the two countries. We also have good cooperation in the Quad and this reflects our commitment to the Indo-Pacific region.

During talks on the Ukraine crisis, the two leaders expressed serious concern about the ongoing conflict and humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
Equally emphasized the fact that it is necessary for all to abide by international law and to respect territorial integrity and sovereignty. Meanwhile, the two leaders agreed that the ongoing conflict in Europe would never be a reason for India-Australia to divert attention from the Indo-Pacific region.
Giving details of the talks, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that many important agreements have been reached between the two leaders. Agreement on cooperation in the mining sector was signed. It is an agreement between Mineral Bidesh India Limited of India and Important Mineral Facility Office of Australia. He said that under this agreement, both the countries will establish a framework for participation in investment.

Earlier in the year 2020, the first virtual summit was held
The first virtual summit between the two prime ministers was held in June 2020. During that time many decisions were also taken for a comprehensive strategic partnership.
