Passenger and goods train collide in Gondia, Maharashtra

One bogie derails, two passengers injured

Mumbai A coach of a passenger train derailed after a passenger and goods train collided at around 2.30 pm in Gondia, Maharashtra. Two persons were injured in this accident.
According to information received from the news agency, the goods train had not received the signal before Gondia and was standing on the track. Then another train coming on the same track collided from behind and the accident happened. The accident occurred due to non-receipt of signal between Bhagat ki Kothi in goods train and passenger train.
According to the information received from Indian Railways in the Gondia incident, the re-railing was completed at 4.30 am, the affected train left at 5.24 am and reached Gondia at 5.44 am. Up and down traffic resumed at 5.45 am. A bogie derailed, 2 persons with minor injuries were treated and sent in the same train.
However, no death of any passenger has been reported. Others have been shifted to a safer place. People who were trapped inside the train after the accident were also pulled out till morning. This train was going from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh to Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The passengers injured in the accident were admitted to the Gondia hospital for treatment.
