New Delhi Dex. Images of Rahul Gandhi holding actress Poonam Kaur’s hand during Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana are going viral. On Saturday, BJP leader Preeti Gandhi posted an allegedly derogatory remark.
Poonam Kaur has answered them. The actress has told why Rahul held her hand. She has said that when she almost slipped and fell, Rahul Gandhi held her hand and handled her. He further wrote, “This is absolutely an insult to you. Remember the Prime Minister spoke of women power.”
At the same time, Jairam Ramesh has called Preeti Gandhi a woman of ‘perverted and sick mind’ on this incident. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet said that Rahul Gandhi is indeed following in the footsteps of his grandfather and uniting the country. Pawan Khera wrote, ‘You need treatment, your mental state may prove to be harmful to your family and friends.’
Meanwhile, Priyanka Chaturvedi, the leader of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena camp, took a tough stand and defended Poonam Kaur. He said, “If you mean that women walking shoulder to shoulder with men inspires to take the nation forward, then not only of Pandit Nehru but of Babasaheb Ambedkar and all the freedom fighters equal India’s dream. Will also be realized. Please sit down.”
Congress MP Jotimani said that BJP’s Preeti Gandhi is a victim of an ideology which can take women to this level. Jothimani tweeted, “Rahul Gandhi is running against the same ideology of RSS to save people like you from deep hatred. Please come and walk with us for a day. You will feel better.”
Poonam Kaur joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra and walked with Rahul Gandhi. The actress wrote, “His concern, respect and protective nature towards women is something that touched my heart. I heartily thank Rahul Gandhi for talking to the weavers’ team on the issues of weavers.”
