ED has called Rahul again for questioning on Tuesday i.e. today. Rahul, who is facing ED questioning for the first time, has remained silent on most of the questions. As per the ED’s rule, Rahul was asked to write the answers to all the questions on paper with his own hands.
Congress workers protested at all places when Rahul was called for questioning. Rahul was asked questions related to Young India and AJL. There were also questions related to Sonia Gandhi’s participation in the work of Young India. The ED sought information from Rahul about the assets of Young India. Through questions, the ED was trying to unearth the conspiracy by which properties worth thousands of crores of AJL were handed over to a company of Gandhi family.
What is the National Herald case- Jawaharlal Nehru started the National Herald newspaper in 1938 along with more than five thousand freedom fighters. It was published by Associated Journal Limited (AJL). When the financial condition of the newspaper deteriorated, Congress gave him a loan of Rs 90.25 crore. The newspaper closed in 2008. In 2010, Congress appointed Young India Pvt. Ltd. (YIL) and took only Rs 50 lakh and gave it the right to recover a loan of Rs 90.25 crore from AJL. Sonia and Rahul hold 76 per cent stake in Young India. Subramanian Swamy approached the court regarding this deal. He had demanded a probe, accusing the Gandhi family of grabbing thousands of crores of AJL’s assets through Young India. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have been on bail since the FIR was registered.
