Cancer is a big problem not only in Assam but also in North East: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays the foundation stone for 7 new cancer hospitals in Assam at Dibrugarh’s Khanikar Maidan

Delhi/Assam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of 7 new cancer hospitals in Assam at Khanikar Maidan in Dibrugarh.

While addressing, he said that cancer has been a big problem not only in Assam but also in North East. Our poorest, middle class families are the most affected by this. Till a few years ago, patients had to go to big cities for the treatment of cancer. To overcome this problem of poor and middle class, the steps which have been taken here since last 5-6 years. For that I thank Sarbananda Sonowal, Hemanta and Tata Trusts very much.
He said that our government has focused a lot on seven things – or the Saptarishis of health. The first attempt is that there is no chance of illness. That’s why our government has given a lot of emphasis on Preventive Healthcare. This is why programs related to yoga, fitness are going on. The focus of our government is also on the fact that the shortage in the number of doctors should be removed. In the last seven years, more than 70,000 new seats have been added for MBBS and PG. Our government has also considered more than 5 lakh Ayush doctors at par with allopathic doctors. The focus of our government is on digitization of health services. The effort of the government is to get rid of long lines for treatment, to get rid of the problems in the name of treatment. For this, one after the other schemes have been implemented.
