US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has strongly criticized the Taliban for closing secondary schools for girls and rejected arguments in support of the ban. Blinken said, ‘Education is a human right. The Taliban promised that girls would be allowed all levels of education. He has gone back on his promises. Girls and women are reaching secondary schools and they are being turned back asking them not to come to school till further notice. He said that America stands with girls and their families who see education as a means to Afghanistan’s progress and prosperity.
