Holika Dahan today

Gorakhpur. Holikadahan, a tradition of symbolizing good over evil, will be performed after 12:57 pm on March 17. Holi, the festival of mutual harmony, will not be celebrated on March 18, but on March 19 in an auspicious time.

This information was given by Yogi Kamal Nath, the head priest of Gorakhnath temple. While discussing the date fixed for the festival, he said that this year, the Falgun month, Shukla Paksha Chaturdashi date will be converted into full moon date at 1:02 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2078 Shaka 1943. After this, Bhadra will start from 1:03 in the day, which will remain till 12:57 in the night. Yogi Kamal Nath told that since the date will be changed from 12 o’clock to 18 March before the end of Bhadra, so Holikadahan will be done after 12:57 pm on March 18. In this sequence, on Friday, March 18, the value of Holika will remain the same. The full moon date will remain till 12:57 pm on Friday, March 18. Due to absence of Uday Pratipada on Friday, Holi festival will be celebrated on the next day i.e. Saturday, 19th March.

Yogi Kamal Nath, following ‘Prpte Madyumase Tu Pratipadudite Ravaush’, said that according to the scriptures, Holikotsav is celebrated on the Krishna Paksha Pratipada date of Chaitra month.

Thus this year, on the attainment of Chaitra Krishna Pratipada on * 19th March * Saturday, the festival of colors will be celebrated by wearing Vibhuti in the body.
